QUIZ: Does Your Small Business Need Preventative IT Support?

Preventative Small Business IT Support – Do You Need It?

In a competitive market and tough economy, savvy small business owners do everything they can to get a leg up on their competition and improve their production. In addition, small businesses often rely on the latest technology to cut costs, boost profits, and communicate effectively. Industry Canada reports: “results reveal that from 2009 to 2011, 38 percent of small businesses” produced “product, process, organizational [or] marketing innovations.” In the digital age, it’s nearly impossible to keep a small business venture going without quality IT.

The traditional model for small business IT support is “break-fix,” meaning that you only contact your IT consultant when you encounter a problem. However, given their dependence on technology and busy schedules, many small businesses prefer preventative IT support. This model, also called “managed services IT,” involves paying a small monthly fee in exchange for consistent support that’s focused on avoiding IT disasters altogether rather than fixing them after they occur.

Take our quiz to find out if your small business needs preventative IT support. If you do, our Toronto team can help.

Q1. How much would your business suffer if you lost a day or more of production?

With conventional “break-fix” small business IT support, your output could be completely halted by a single glitch. You would lose valuable time (and therefore money) waiting for your consultant to show up and fix the problem. This could seriously eat into your monthly profits. In addition, the bills for “break-fix” services can vary widely, so you could also be left with a hefty bill. TUCU’s preventative small business IT support helps you circumvent these issues at a low, predictable monthly cost.

Q2. Do your computers often lag?

Most of us have experienced the frustration of trying to execute a simple task on a slow-moving device. While they might not constitute a big enough issue to call in “break-fix” support, these lags could be a symptom of viruses, which could eventually bring down your entire server. In addition, losing time to lag on a daily basis can put a damper on your overall productivity. TUCU’s managed services IT can help you handle these smaller daily concerns to streamline your workflow and prevent future problems.

Q3. Is your server secure?

In the constantly evolving world of computer coding, firewalls, encryption, and privacy breaches, it can be difficult to know without a doubt that your server is secure without professional help. If you opt for preventative IT support from TUCU, our team will provide weekly security updates to monitor and maintain the safety of your server.

Q4. Can you afford to hire an IT employee?

Many small businesses simply don’t have the resources employ a part- or full-time in-house IT staff. Our managed services IT support plan allows you to experience many of the benefits of an IT team member without the cost. We respond to critical issues within four hours during regular business hours (Monday to Friday, 9 am to 4 pm) and provide unlimited remote support for a variety of issues.

Q5. Are your important files backed up?

Losing all of your important files could seriously disrupt your small business. With TUCU’s preventative small business IT support, you can rest assured that your data is safe. Our team will help you routinely back up your information so that it can be recovered if anything happens to your hardware.

I was IT support for a few years in Toronto and faced the same audttties you cited. As much as I love troubleshooting computers, I eventually left the profession because of user abuses.
