Tucu is an environmentally friendly IT company
tucu recycles old electronics and will pick up old electronics from any of our clients when we are on site for service. Learn more about that here: http://tucu.ca/keep-your-electronics-computers-out-of-landfills/
We often donate usable electronics to young students and charitable organizations. Unusable electronics are recycled via the Ontario Electronics Stewardship program. Learn more at http://www.dowhatyoucan.ca
We are a green business, and we follow through on our environmental consciousness commitment like this:
- Computers are shut down when not in use. Monitors go in to Power Save mode after 15 minutes of inactivity.
- Our domain hosting service runs on windmill power, as does the tucu website. To register a domain with us, visit http://altnet.ca/whmcs/
- Light bulbs are all low energy compact fluorescent bulbs.
- Task lighting is used as our primary light source, reducing our overall lighting needs and electrical consumption.
- Air-conditioning usage during the summer months is set to 23C and only runs from 9 am to 5 pm.
- We use indoor plants to help clean the office air and absorb indoor pollution.
- Our admin and help desk team members are virtual team members. They do not commute, limiting the carbon footprint of tucu. They also do not need to pack litter producing lunches or snacks, having the convenience of their home kitchens, cutlery, plates etc.
- Whenever possible, computer repairs and IT services are provided remotely, to reduce commuting and keep our carbon foot print as small as possible.
- We regularly refill ink cartridges for our printers.
- We only print when necessary.
- We recycle used paper, plastics etc in our office.
- We send our clients invoices and receipts in PDF format, via email, reducing paper and envelope waste and reducing the carbon footprint of tucu.
- Our newsletters are also electronic, thereby not using paper.
